PETE HANDELMAN is from Brooklyn, New York, and makes sure to eat bagels from Zabar's and dirty water hot dogs from street vendors during each visit. I trained with Cynthia Szigeti and The Groundlings, and was a mainstay at Acme Comedy Theatre. At Acme I appeared in a weekly sketch ensemble, was a regular in the 'Bigtime Jubilee' variety show, and staged two one-man shows: ‘Petey’s World’ and ‘A Tribute To Pete Handelman’. I am a seasoned stand-up comic. I produced, and helped launch the weekly 'Pint of Funny' stand-up show at O'Brien's Pub in Santa Monica which has now been a thursday institution for over 10 years.I am My character ‘Pedro Pe’ is a local favorite, and was featured at the prestigious Montreal Comedy Festival on the 'Danger Zone' bill with Dave Chapelle and Will Ferrell. I tested my pipes in a musical with Fred Willard entitled ‘Moon Shine’, directed by lovable 'Love Boat' bartender Ted Lange. I sang a solo written especially for me by C&W legend Marty Stuart! Voiceover credits include a three-year stint at Premiere Radio, where I was syndicated nationally to over 300 stations. I also did dozens of voices in animated series for Eric Eisner's romp.com Screen Credits include THE MOTHMAN PROPHECIES, THE PARTY CRASHERS and IN LIVING COLOR. National commercials include FedEx, Sprint, McDonald's, Heineken, Microsoft, Nissan, Coors Lite, Midas, Southwest Airlines, Toyota and H&R Block. Stage credits include Ali Maclean's 'Tales of a Bleaknik', directed by Phil LaMarr, and 'Talk Show From Outer Space', both of which were staged regularly at the HBO Workspace. Skateboarding, be-bop, manchego cheese and a frosty mug of horchata are among my favorite things.
